Why Air Curtain Doors Are Important
You have probably walked through the entrance of an establishment – be it a mall, a retail store, or a storage facility – and as you are passing through that entrance you felt a cold and strong current of air coming down on you. That air is coming from devices called air curtain doors and these serve specific purposes.
Do you have any idea what those air curtains really are? To help you better have a good idea what it is all about, you can imagine an air curtain as just a much more powerful version of an air blower. It is placed over the entrance (or exit) of an establishment and continuously blows a strong current of air downwards, to anyone who passes through it.
So to help you better understand the many uses of this type of traffic doors, I have enumerated and explained some of these:
To keep outside odors and fumes away from the room you are protecting. If you have an enclosed area that should be kept free from any foul smelling odors but you need to keep the entrance always open (maybe for continuous human traffic or transfer of goods and equipment) then installing an air door is your best option.
Do you want to keep your room free from small contaminants like the usual dust and dirt? Then an air curtain can certainly be of great help to you. What it can do is to direct the flow of the air current coming from the air door towards the direction of the incoming air from the outside. This air will then hit the contaminants, particularly the dust and the dirt and in turn will prevent these from even entering the room.
When you have to maintain the temperature of a room or a facility and a regular door type will just prevent the flow of movement of your employees and equipment, then your best bet would be using an air curtain instead of a door. This will prevent the outside air, which has a different temperature, from entering the room.
If you think that an air door is just meant to be used on commercial and industrial complexes, then you are in for a bit of surprise. This is because it is also widely used in manufacturing facilities mainly because of its drying capability. And the variation of this air door that is used in these facilities are the heated types.
These air doors are also perfect for keeping all those pesky winged insects from entering your facility. Of course nobody wants any insects whether you are running a restaurant, a cold storage facility, a manufacturing plant, or a warehouse. These air curtains will surely do the job for you.
You probably have already noticed that these traffic doors are not your best option if you want to secure an area. Most of these doors do not even have any locks and thus cannot prevent other people from entering the room.
